Enter wins, draws and losses or game scores to get a sorted league table. Pick 3-1-0, 2-1-0 or your own points system, choose how ties are broken, and check how many points each team can still reach.

Teams are ranked by points, then goal difference, then goals scored. Teams that are still level share the same rank. Head-to-head results, disciplinary points and other league-specific rules are not applied, so check your league's official rules for the final order.
How league points and standings are calculated
A team's league points are its wins, draws and losses multiplied by the points each result is worth, then added up. In most soccer leagues that is 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, so a record of 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss is 17 points.
This calculator does the math for any number of teams. Choose a points system, enter each team's record or the score of every game, and it sorts the table by points. When teams are level on points, it breaks the tie with goal difference and goals scored, or with most wins first if you pick that option. You can also turn on games left and max points to see which teams can still catch the leader.
It works for rec and amateur leagues, school and club seasons, and any round-robin where you award points for a win, draw or loss, including board game and esports leagues.
Common uses: rec leagues, school teams and season tracking
Rec and amateur leagues
Organizers of 5-a-side, futsal and adult rec soccer leagues can enter results each week and share an up-to-date table with every team.
School and club seasons
Coaches and club volunteers can turn a list of game scores into a standings table, then copy it into an email, a spreadsheet or a team chat.
Checking a table you saw online
Enter a team's record to confirm its points total, or switch between 3-1-0 and 2-1-0 to see how the same results would have looked under the older system.
Late-season what-ifs
Turn on games left and max points to see which teams can still reach the leader's total, and which no longer can.
How to build a league table in 4 steps
- Pick a points system: 3-1-0, 2-1-0, basic rugby (4-2-0) or custom, then choose how ties are broken.
- Choose "From win-loss records" to type in each team's W, D and L totals, or "From game scores" to enter the score of each game.
- Add your teams and enter results. In the records view, tick "Enter goals for/against" to include goal difference in the table.
- Turn on "Show games left and max points" if you want it, then use "Copy table" to paste the standings elsewhere.
Note: Everything is calculated in your browser. Team names and results are not sent to our servers.
Limits of this calculator
- The table follows the points system and tiebreaker you choose. It does not replace an official table, which may use extra rules.
- Head-to-head results, disciplinary points, bonus points, overtime-loss points and coin tosses are not applied. Teams that are still level share the same rank.
- In the game scores view, the higher score wins and equal scores are a draw. Games with an empty score are treated as not played.
- Max points assumes a win in every game left. It shows what is mathematically possible, not what is likely.
- Your entries are not saved. Copy the table before you close or reload the page.
3-1-0 vs 2-1-0 vs rugby: same record, different points
The same record of 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss is worth a different number of points depending on the system.
| Points system | Win | Draw | Loss | 3W-1D-1L total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-1-0 (current soccer) | 3 | 1 | 0 | 10 |
| 2-1-0 (older soccer) | 2 | 1 | 0 | 7 |
| Rugby (basic, no bonus points) | 4 | 2 | 0 | 14 |
| Custom | Your numbers | Your numbers | Your numbers | Calculated from your values |
Many rugby competitions add bonus points for scoring tries or losing narrowly. This calculator only counts the points for a win, draw or loss, so use it as an estimate for those leagues.
Points, tiebreakers and the title race
A few basics that help you read a league table correctly.
Points come first, tiebreakers decide the rest
A team's points are its wins, draws and losses times the points system. When two teams are level, the league's tiebreaker order decides who ranks higher. Common tiebreakers include goal difference, goals scored, wins and head-to-head results, and the order varies by league.
Goal difference or wins first
Many soccer leagues use goal difference (goals for minus goals against) as the first tiebreaker. MLS puts total wins first, then goal difference and goals for. The calculator lets you switch between the two orders so you can match your own league's rules.
Why soccer moved to 3 points for a win
Soccer used to give 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The English Football League switched to 3 points for a win in 1981, and the system spread widely after the 1994 World Cup used it. The aim was to reward teams for going for a win instead of settling for a draw.
Reading max points
Max points is a team's current points plus a win in every game it has left. If that number is lower than the leader's current points, the team cannot catch the leader and the calculator flags it. To know whether the leader has clinched the title, compare the leader's points with every other team's max points.
Common standings mistakes
Counting a draw as zero points
In most leagues a draw earns 1 point for each team. Entering draws as 0 makes every total come out too low.

Assuming every league breaks ties the same way
Two teams on the same points can swap places depending on whether the league looks at goal difference or wins first.

Treating the basic rugby preset as an official table
Rugby competitions often add bonus points that this calculator does not include, so the totals can differ from the official standings.

Calling the title race over from current points alone
A team that trails by a few points may still have enough games left to catch up, especially if teams have played different numbers of games.

Questions about points, tiebreakers and max points
Q.How many points is a win, draw and loss worth in soccer?
A. Most soccer leagues give 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. A team with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss has 3×3 + 1×1 + 0×1 = 10 points. The calculator has presets for 3-1-0, 2-1-0 and a basic rugby system (4-2-0), plus a custom option where you type in your own points.
Q.When did soccer switch from 2 points to 3 points for a win?
A. The English Football League introduced 3 points for a win in 1981. Few other competitions followed until the 1994 World Cup used it, after which it spread to most leagues. The aim was to reward teams for going for a win instead of settling for a draw. Use the 2-1-0 preset if you want to see how a table looked under the older system.
Q.How are teams ranked when they have the same number of points?
A. By default the calculator ranks teams by points, then goal difference (goals for minus goals against), then goals scored. Teams that are still level share the same rank. You can switch the tiebreaker to most wins first, which puts wins ahead of goal difference. MLS lists total wins as its first regular-season tiebreaker, followed by goal difference and goals for. The calculator does not apply head-to-head results, disciplinary points or coin tosses.
Q.What does max points mean, and how is it calculated?
A. Max points is a team's current points plus the points from winning every game it has left. Turn on "Show games left and max points" to add the Left and Max Pts columns. In the win-loss record view, games left is the season total you enter minus the team's games played. In the game scores view, any game with an empty score counts as a game left. A team is flagged "Can't catch 1st" when its max points are below the current leader's points.
Q.Can I enter game scores instead of win-loss records?
A. Yes. Switch to "From game scores", add your teams, and enter a score for each game. The calculator counts wins, draws, losses, goals for and goals against for you, and shows a head-to-head results grid. It can also create a single or double round-robin schedule. A double round-robin is every team playing every other team twice, home and away.
Q.Does it support bonus points or overtime losses?
A. No. Each team earns points only for a win, a draw or a loss. That means the rugby preset gives 4 for a win and 2 for a draw but has no try or close-loss bonus points, and there is no separate point for an overtime or shootout loss like some hockey leagues use. For those leagues, the totals here will not match the official table.
Q.Is the data I enter saved or sent anywhere?
A. No. All calculations run in your browser, and team names and results are not sent to our servers. The tool does not store your entries either, so reloading or closing the page clears them. Use the copy buttons to paste the table into a spreadsheet or document before you leave.
